The Arrecife Christmas Fair kicks off with public success

The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, presided over the official opening ceremony of Navilan, which is located in the area known as Ginory, and will remain open until January 7, 2024.

The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, presided over the official opening ceremony of Navilan, which is located in the area known as Ginory, and will remain open until January 7, 2024. 

The first mayor, accompanied by the vice president of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, the deputy mayor and councilor of Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, and the councilor of Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, participated in the ribbon cutting. Yonathan de León invited the little ones Erk, Alma and Ismael, who remained with their families from very early in the accesses waiting for the opening of the fair, to participate in the ribbon cutting and be protagonists of this moment in welcoming the first edition of the Navilan Ciudad de Arrecife Christmas Fair.  

The mayor considers that the success of the opening confirms that the neighbors support initiatives with height and level in the dynamization of the city. "We are turning Arrecife into the epicenter of events, and with this fair, many families from all over Lanzarote, and from other places outside the island, will come to the city to enjoy a true Christmas atmosphere." "This year is special in the history of Arrecife, and we are celebrating it. Our municipality was born 225 years ago, in Christmas days," he remarked. 

The City Council has counted on the collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Tourist Centers for this fair. The vice president of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, "positively valued the opening of this Christmas fair. "We are facing a historic day for the capital and for the island, a meeting place where families and friends can enjoy different Christmas activities in an idyllic place such as the coast of Arrecife."  

For the councilor Eli Merino, whose Council of Commerce and Tourism has directed the direct organization of this Christmas fair, jointly with the mayor's office, it is "important that Arrecife, as the third capital of the Canary Islands, offers citizens and visitors proposals such as this fair to strengthen the city as the epicenter of dynamization. With Navilan we support commerce, the hospitality sector, transportation and events, because there will be thousands of people who will visit this place daily, and all of Arrecife, to experience Christmas, acquire their purchases and gifts, and enjoy the local hotels, in addition to shopping in the Christmas markets that we have installed here in El Charco, and in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park from the Council."

The mayor was accompanied at the event by a large representation of his Municipal Government group. 

The morning opening featured the performance of the children's musical group Pica Pica. The Government group, led by Mayor Yonathan de León, has programmed for these Christmas dates this Navilan Cuidad de Arrecife Christmas Fair, on the area of ​​the Charco de San Ginés, next to Ginory. The Arrecife Council of Tourism and Commerce, directed by Councilor Eli Merino, has promoted this activity within the dynamization of the capital of Lanzarote as the epicenter of events. 

From the City Council it is highlighted that the creation of this Christmas Fair, and that in its first hours has received many praises and congratulations, supports the projects that are underway, plus others that will join throughout 2024, to relaunch Arrecife favoring the presence of SMEs linked to leisure, commerce, tourism, and hospitality. 

The first mayor recalled that this 2023 is special for Arrecife as it commemorates the 225th anniversary of the founding of the municipality. "Our city was born here, in the Charco de San Ginés, first as a port and then as a capital. We wanted this Christmas fair, which coincides with the date of the founding of the municipality, to have this enclave very linked to the history of Arrecife," emphasized Yonathan de León. 

 

The Arrecife City Christmas Fair   

Navilan Ciudad de Arrecife has a natural ice rink, children's attractions, gastronomy area and market, as well as a large stage for performances and animation. The City Council has had the support and collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism for the realization of this first edition of the Christmas Fair.  

Navilan Ciudad de Arrecife will open this Saturday at 10 am, and until 24 hours. The Christmas Fair will remain open until January 7, 2024. On December 24 and 31, and January 6, it will have a special schedule from 12 to 19 hours.
