The Cabildo of Lanzarote has presented the 35th edition of the Craft Fair that will be held from September 10 to 15 and will feature the participation of more than 120 professionals.
The presentation was given by the island's president, Oswaldo Betancort, accompanied by the Minister of Crafts, Aroa Revelo, and the Minister of Culture, Jesús Machín. Also attending was the mayor of the City Council of Tinajo, Jesús Machín.
President Oswaldo Betancort reiterated that "it is not just about visiting the fair, but about consuming local products and ensuring a solid future for the profession." He also stressed the importance of social and institutional responsibility in this area and congratulated the contribution of all areas and people involved in making the event also a benchmark for crafts in Macaronesia.
Councilor Aroa Revelo highlighted the importance of supporting local production and emphasized the program prepared for this 35th edition of the Craft Fair. She also stressed the joint effort of the departments of Culture, Crafts and other teams involved, especially thanking all the staff who have facilitated the organization of the event.
Councilor Jesús Machín highlighted the social inclusion in the event, with spaces dedicated to people with special needs, as well as the participation of tourist centers in the gastronomic offer and placed special emphasis on the preservation of our cultural identity. In this sense, Jesús Machín announced the new Culture Lanzarote campaign on the importance of traditional clothing during the Pilgrimage of Los Dolores.
The video "Pa Los Dolores, con fundamento", starring comedians Darío López and Nacho Peña, underlines with the grace that characterizes both humorists, the relevance of raising local traditions with respect and emotion.
For his part, the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, expressed his gratitude to the Ministries of Culture and Crafts, as well as to the Ministry of Tourist Centers, for their contribution to the fair. "Invite the inhabitants of the seven municipalities and La Graciosa to participate in everything that happens in Mancha Blanca, as this edition will be a source of pride for all," he concluded.

On its 35th anniversary, the fair has as its central theme the crafts of vegetable fibers, highlighting techniques and traditions that have endured over time. During the presentation, professionals such as Antonio Emilio and María Dorta, specialists in rosettes and rush basketry, demonstrated their mastery live, offering a preview of what can be enjoyed at the Fair.
Lanzarote Craft Fair 2024
The Lanzarote Craft Fair will be held in Mancha Blanca, Tinajo, an emblematic place that has hosted this event since 1989. With more than a hundred stalls, it will feature the participation of artisans from the Island, from the rest of the Canary Islands and from guest countries, including representatives from the Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde, who will bring a rich cultural diversity of Macaronesia.
The Fair will bring together specialists in pottery, ceramics, carpentry, baskets, and other craftsmen who contribute to conserve, preserve and disseminate the customs that mark the idiosyncrasy of our Island.
