Last May 9th marked the centenary of the murder of María Cruz in her house in Teseguite and, for this reason, the writer and journalist Concha de Ganzo presented on Thursday night, at the Casa-Museo del Timple in Teguise, the second edition of her book 'The crime of the Cruz sisters'.

Representing the publishing house Ediciones Remotas, Mario Ferrer was in charge of introducing Concha de Ganzo who, very grateful for the acceptance her book had in the first edition, appeared before the public, eager to know everything the writer had investigated about such a shocking event.

The first words of the writer and journalist were of gratitude to Francisco Cabrera, known as Paco, a local police officer from Teguise and a resident of Teseguite, the town where the events took place. Recently deceased, he was the first person she contacted when in the 80s she settled in La Villa de Teguise and someone told her the tragedy of what happened with the sisters, María and Petra Cruz. From that moment on, Concha understood that this event deserved to be told in an attempt to explain, or at least try to understand, the reasons behind the great injustices, in a time as complicated as the one that the poor people of Lanzarote had to live at the beginning of the 20th century.

In the presentation of her book, Concha de Ganzo shared with the audience how she was gathering information to complete the book in question and how the first contacts were not easy at all. And it is that, some doors were opened to her but others were also closed, verifying that there were people who could provide more information but did not want to be involved in the case, arguing that many years had passed and that they should leave things as they were.

However, the writer and journalist continued and managed to complete her book, which has aroused great interest in all those interested in knowing what happened in the town of Teseguite on the tragic night in which María Cruz lost her life, her sister Petra being the only culprit, who, being innocent, was tortured, even reaching madness, being admitted to the Tafira Asylum in Gran Canaria, where she died.
