With the arrival of December, cultural collectives, folklore groups, Christmas ranches, choirs, and parrandas intensify their activity by participating in concerts and gatherings that, through Christmas carols, invite us to relive such endearing festivities in which sharing, solidarity, and joy take on special prominence.

Within this framework, on Tuesday evening, at 8:00 PM, the Convent of Santo Domingo in Teguise was the setting for the First Recital of Christmas Carols - Christmas Airs, organized by the Virgen de Guadalupe Folk Group of Teguise. The event, presented by Luz Mary Duque, began with a performance by the Music School of the town of Femés, directed by Professor Berto Nieves. Following this, the members of the Guagime Folk Group, from the town of Tehíche, took the stage under the direction of Professor Fefo Pérez.

The event was closed by the hosts and organizers, the Virgen de Guadalupe de Teguise Folk Group led by Professor Javier Bravo.

Each of the participating groups offered a wide and varied repertoire of Christmas carols, performing both very popular traditional pieces and unpublished compositions of Canarian origin, highlighting the richness of the archipelago's Christmas folklore.

The members of these groups, who meet periodically in their rehearsal spaces, do so driven by the enthusiasm and commitment to preserve, disseminate, and strengthen traditional Christmas musical expressions, thereby reinforcing community ties and transmitting values of unity, joy, and tradition across generations.

The audience present enjoyed the concert and actively participated in some choruses, rewarding the magnificent work done with warm applause. The recital also had the institutional support of the Teguise City Council, represented by councilors Andoni Machín, head of Culture and Festivals, Eugenio Robayna, of Security and Emergencies, and Ana Nereyda González, of Social Welfare.

As a final flourish, the members of the three groups joined together to perform the carol Alegría, alegría, thus bringing to a close this moving First Carol Recital - Christmas Airs, which left a pleasant memory among those in attendance.
