The murgas of “Los Tabletúos”, “Las Enraladas” and “Los Desahuciados” conquered the public gathered at the Arrecife Fairgrounds this Monday, in the first phase of the ‘XXXIV Adult Murga Contest’ of the capital's Carnival.
Hosted by the historic Radio Lanzarote announcer Francisco José Navarro, accompanied by announcer Demelza Viñas and actor and presenter Yeray Betancort, the gala organized within the program of events designed by the Arrecife City Council, chaired by Yonathan de León, through the Department of Celebrations, directed by Echedey Eugenio, began with the performance of the children's murga “Los Intoxicaditos”, which last Saturday obtained the third prize in the Interpretation, Lyrics and Music category and the second prize in the Fantasy, Design and Wardrobe section, of the VIII Children's Murga Contest.
After a colorful carnival parade in which the six murgas participating in this edition were represented, the 51 members of the murga “Los Tabletúos” took to the stage, wearing the fantasy “The hour of truth has arrived”, by the designer Toño Aparicio.
This group from the La Vega neighborhood was founded in 2003 and took to the Carnival stage for the first time in 2004. Its musical director is Crisanto Reyes, its president is Ricardo Ramos, and the songs they presented tonight are titled “Self-criticism” and “Pajama Party”.
After “Los Tabletúos”, the next murga to participate was “Las Enraladas”.
Founded in 2017 in the Maneje neighborhood, they performed for the first time in 2008. Currently it has 54 members, its musical director is Miriam Hernández and Davinia Hernández is the president.
The fantasy with which they are competing this year is titled “Somewhere in the west they are, the cowgirls who were afraid to wake up”, designed by Tauce Renda, and the songs performed in the first phase of the contest were: “The bad memory” and “If for you we are a game... It's up to you!”.
Monday's murga day ended with the performance of the murga “Los Desahuciados”, born in Valterra in 1997 and taking to the stage for the first time in 1998. There are 58 members who have Adrián Hernández at the head of the musical direction of the murga and Miguel Martín as president.
His fantasy, “With so much color and so much rhombus, the evicted clown has gone crazy”, has been designed by Juan Marín Hormiga, and the songs presented in the first phase of the contest: “The Festival” and “The Justice Clowns”.
On Tuesday it will be the turn of “Los Intoxicados”, “las Inadaptadas” and “Los Simplones”. The grand final will be held on Friday the 9th, on the same stage and starting at 9:00 p.m.
