For the fourth consecutive year, squares, streets, and emblematic corners of the seven municipalities of Lanzarote will once again become projection rooms under the stars thanks to the Summer Traveling Cinema, a project promoted by Tenique Cultural with the sponsorship of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the collaboration of the seven island councils.
During the months of July and August, this unique proposal will bring cinema to outdoor public spaces, with double weekly sessions on Thursdays and Fridays, free admission, popcorn distribution, and an atmosphere designed for all audiences.
Beyond entertainment, this unique summer cinema is committed to generating an environment of encounter and collective thinking around the best films: comedies, thrillers, and animated works.
“What distinguishes this initiative is its ability to unite us as an island through cinema, recovering the shared experience of collective viewing in each municipality, while inviting reflection,” said Jesús Machín, Minister of Culture of the Cabildo. “The Summer Traveling Cinema is another important example of public, accessible, and transformative culture, which we always aim to promote from the Cabildo.”
Javier Fuentes Feo, president of Tenique Cultural, highlighted that the program “includes titles that were great successes at the time, such as The Footprint, ET or Karate Kid, and today they are still extraordinary films for their ability to provoke conversation, memory, and emotion.” He also emphasized the constant collaboration with local institutions, which continue to support this “town, neighborhood, and summer cinema in which culture, community, and dialogue go hand in hand impeccably.”
The sessions will begin on July 3rd in Arrecife and will be held every week until August 15th, always at 9:00 PM.
