Sonidos Líquidos, a music festival held in Lanzarote, is the IV award for sustainable values of the Festival Boreal. As every year, the festival gives this mention to people, institutions or groups that develop an important work in sustainability. This 2024, and for the first time in the history of this recognition, it will be awarded to a musical event that is governed by sustainable values such as Sonidos Líquidos.
The director of the Lanzarote music festival, Neftalí Acosta, will collect the award on Saturday, September 21 in Los Silos. It will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Pérez Enríquez room of the old convent of San Sebastián de Los Silos. Sonidos Líquidos, held in the surroundings of La Geria, develops a meticulous sustainability plan to minimize its impact on the environment. This work has led it to become a national reference in the field of sustainable events.
Sonidos Líquidos is a festival that fuses music, wine and gastronomy in a unique protected landscape such as the vineyards and crops of La Geria in Lanzarote. Each year it offers a program of concerts, mainly of independent music, combined with different activities.
Among the reasons that have determined this award is the involvement of Sonidos Líquidos with the territory and the enhancement of a unique product of Lanzarote such as wine. On the other hand, the conejero festival is committed to culture from a rural and decentralized space and is an event that goes beyond a music festival. In addition, there is a clear implication in the implementation of the SDGs and sustainability from a triple perspective: social, environmental and economic. All this makes Sonidos Líquidos awarded with the Festival Boreal 2024 award.
The Festival Boreal award aims to publicly recognize professional careers in accordance with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. Trajectories that represent a path towards sustainable development in which common action and innovation are key, not only among professionals, but also with the participation of new development actors, youth, civil society and academia, among others.
Connection between festivals
The sustainable nature of Festival Boreal and Sonidos Líquidos creates a special connection between these two musical proposals. Recognizing the work of a festival similar to Festival Boreal is also a way to reach out to the culture and sustainability sector in the Canary Islands and strengthen existing ties. Neither Festival Boreal nor Sonidos Líquidos understand any other way of making culture than based on sustainability.
In this way, one more year and there are already 17, music and the environment will be the best allies in the Festival Boreal. Los Silos will become an international musical melting pot from September 18 to 22. All this, thanks to the performances of Rodrigo Cuevas, Iseo & Dodosound, J Noa, Marala, Francisco El Hombre, Bombino, Clara Mann, Las Ninyas del Corro, Surma, Loli Molina, Yaima Orozco, Miss Bolivia, Bewis de la Rosa or Dal:um.
A large international cast to which artists from the Canary Islands are added, such as Mariana, Nala Rami, María al revés, Ruts & La Isla Music with Dactah Chando and Isa Izquierdo, Julia Rodríguez, Aníbal & Lajalada and Marilia Monzón. All these proposals place the Festival Boreal among the most relevant and attractive musical encounters in Spain, due to the excellence of a program that, from Tenerife, has positioned itself internationally with its commitment to talent and innovative proposals.
In addition, the musical proposal must be added a wide free program of talks, screenings, exhibitions, workshops and activities around healthy living and the family. This program will take place from September 18 to 22 during the mornings and afternoons of Boreal.
