The Carnival of Costa Teguise, La Villa and La Graciosa, dedicated this year to the young people of the Teguise musical under the allegory "The Animated World" has begun with the celebration of a new contest that included the participation of eight murgas from Lanzarote, who performed for two nights at the Nautical Shopping Center in Costa Teguise.
The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, congratulated on behalf of the Corporation all the groups that have decided to participate in the Carnival of the municipality and, especially, the winners. Los Simplones, Los Desahuciados and Los Tabletuos, were proclaimed first, second and third classified after the second phase and final of Wednesday night.
After the Murgas Contest, Teguise will continue with the planned program, which includes the exhibition of the works made in the mask workshop of Los Diabletes in the House of Culture of La Villa de Teguise, and also the Carnival Gala this Thursday in Costa Teguise.
This Friday, March 3, the Traditional Carnival will return to the Historic Site of La Villa with the participation of groups from outside, such as Los Peliquerios (Ourense) and Los Arretrancos from Fuerteventura, as well as the masquerades, the Bulls of Tao and Tiagua, Los Diabletes of Teguise or Los Buches of Arrecife, with the performance of the Parranda El Golpito as the culmination.
