The Art, Nature and Sculpture Campus of Lanzarote closed its third edition this Saturday, July 27th, at the headquarters of the Curbelo Santana Foundation, in San Bartolomé, with an open day. The Fine Arts students of the University of La Laguna presented the creation Show me what you are or I will discover it when I go, on which they have been working since last July 22nd.

The creative residency, directed by the Professor of Journalism at the ULL, José Luis Zurita, is co-organized by the University of La Laguna and the Foundation. The sculpture of this edition is located in the sculpture park of the Foundation next to the previous works: The shadow of the soco (2022) and Behind the trunks you can see the palm trees (2023). Together with the academic director, Itahisa Pérez, professor of Fine Arts at the ULL, and her colleague from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, David Vila, the team created a piece with iron, hanging stones and steel cable.

The idea of the work was born from the problem of demographic displacement. According to Fine Arts student Bianca González, "the piece interposes the two realities that are presented in this social phenomenon: one crude and the other idyllic." Itahisa Pérez stated at the closing of the Campus that "each edition of the Campus we are improving, but it is also becoming more complicated." She also assured that the team has been committed to the sculpture from day one.

The president of the Foundation, Rufina Santana, thanked those who support the project, because "the Campus has a complexity that is not seen from the outside and their support is essential." On the other hand, she pointed out that "creating the Campus was necessary for the cultural environment of Lanzarote." Zurita, for his part, thanked the students for their effort, while expressing his satisfaction for the celebration in 2025 of the first Arts Campus, which will be held together with the fourth edition of the Sculpture Campus.

Eight students participated from the Faculty of Fine Arts: Bianca González, Lucía González, Demian Hernández, Paola Hernández, Pedro Mesa, Pierina Rodríguez, Laura Puente and Laia Rovira, while from the Degree in Journalism, Laura Artiles, Andrea Delgado and Andrea Fernaud. At the Open Day, the Fine Arts students exhibited a collection of bronze pieces on which they had been working during the academic year.

The Campus had the collaboration of the City Council of San Bartolomé, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote and the faculties of Fine Arts and Social Sciences and Communication of the ULL. In addition, private entities such as the Scottish Foundation WPG Charitable Trust, SeaSide Hotels and the Traslación Dance Festival also cooperated.
