Servando Pérez Dorta, who ran the bar of El Almacén for a decade and a half, will be the proclaimer of the Arrecife carnivals, which in this 2019 will be dedicated to the figure of César Manrique on the occasion of the centenary of the artist's birth.
Pérez Dorta, who has been linked to the world of hospitality for a large part of his life and who was president of the Puente de las Bolas Association, ran the bar of El Almacén between 1985 and 2000, after César Manrique asked him to do so, as he told La Voz.
"When I was 25 years old, César called me to run the bar of El Almacén, an emblematic place in Lanzarote and known both in the Islands and in the Peninsula and as a result of that, César was the architect of promoting the Carnival in El Almacén and I, for many years, for a decade and a half, I was lucky enough to consolidate El Almacén as a strategic site in the Arrecife Carnival", explained the proclaimer.
Precisely, Servando Pérez Dorta will focus his proclamation on remembering those years of Carnival in El Almacén and on the figure of César Manrique, with whom he claims to have shared many moments.
