Pablo Carreiro, under the Editorial Siete Islas label, publishes 'Chico! What I like about summer'. A new installment of his most personal work in which he continues to expand the universe of his characters in a work that overflows with tenderness and honesty.

We met Berto, the author's alter ego, as an adult in 'Chico! (Libros puntocom)' and 'Chico! (Indie books)' and with 'Chico! Those who go behind the line' (Editorial Siete Islas) we returned to his adolescence on a journey back to the past. This new volume will continue the plot where the last one left off, taking the summer of 2002 as a starting point.

Through Berto, the author illustrates the ordinary life of an effervescent young man at sixteen years old. A story that combines fiction and personal memories. Berto does not walk alone and his friends (Rika, Hannah and Lorelá), his family and, he premieres the summer with Enzo, his first boyfriend, have a great weight in the work. Together they will live a vibrant summer in which secrets will emerge and, unfortunately, days in which the sun does not shine. With a simple language rich in nuances, this story will make us reflect on the importance of bonds and how they guide our path.

'Chico! What I like about summer' is an exercise in nostalgia that puts us in front of those summers in which we were not so aware of the mobile, nor did reggaeton sound. The author recovers iconic moments from that year such as the premiere of the 'Popstars' program.

The popular presenter Rocío Delgado signs the prologue of this work, which also includes an unpublished story by the writer Pablo Wessling. As a sign of identity of his work, the author proudly raises the flag of the LGBTQ+ collective, illustrating characters that give life to the different colors. A commitment to diversity accompanied by a message in a feminist key that enriches the reading. In addition, his vignettes are full of nods to pop culture icons such as Baccara or Dragon Ball.

We are facing a comic that will awaken the reader's good memories through a simple story and characters in a state of grace with whom it is very easy to feel identified. Carreiro maintains his peculiar sense of humor and his narrative that alternates tones with grace. The graphic style remains faithful to its predecessors with a friendly graphic that favors empathy between the reader and the characters.

Pablo Carreiro (Vigo, 1985) is an illustrator and cartoonist. He has created arts for multiple projects. Among his works we can highlight: 'Ukiyo!'
