Mestisay conquered Teguise, putting the finishing touch on the eve of the big day of the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen. At 8:00 p.m., the concert began in the municipal tent, with a devoted audience eager to have a good time, an objective that Mestisay achieved with flying colors. As soon as they took the stage, the lead voice of Olga Cerpa was received with a great ovation, surrounded by seven great musicians directed by Manuel González, creator of this great project back in 1978.
With the incorporation a few years later of the one who would become the lead singer and alma mater of the musical group and with whom they have traveled different continents and countries: Olga Cerpa, nominated twice for the Latin Grammys. This artist is a woman who transforms when she goes on stage due to her closeness with the public, whom she easily wins over, infecting them and making them participate in each of the songs, with which she sometimes lowers her tone of voice so that the public sings or claps in each of the choruses. In addition, Manuel González, a true master in artistic endeavors, more than adequately takes the helm of the band, ensuring that each of the chords sounds perfect.
Mestisay, on this special night for Teguise, prepared a select musical repertoire, reviewing some of their latest albums, such as the one recorded during the pandemic entitled Palosanto, a recording adventure that allowed each of the participants to record individually around twelve cities around the world, thanks to technical and computer communication advances with guitars and guitarists of different styles.
But on such a special night, there was no shortage of songs that are part of Mestisay and that cannot be kept in the trunk, such as: Rosa de los Vientos dedicated to Fuerteventura; Sulema, in homage to Saharawi women and the harsh conditions in which they have to live in the desert; Valentina, which pays tribute to Valentina Hernández from Sabinosa, in the municipality of Frontera in El Hierro; Viento Fue, a song composed by Manuel González dedicated to César Manrique; and Graciosera, dedicated to the Eighth Island.
Olga Cerpa came down from the stage to feel the warmth of the audience much closer, who were surprised with some folias, which were greatly applauded by those present. Once the moment of farewell arrived, with the audience standing, they sang and danced the song Esa Musiquita, with lyrics that the public knew very well and with very catchy choruses, which put the finishing touch to a night where Mestisay and Olga Cerpa gave it their all, leaving the bar very high. Finally, it was the public who rewarded their dedication and good work by reciprocating with their applause.
At the end of the concert, the mayoress of the Teguise town hall, Olivia Duque, took the opportunity to congratulate the members of Mestisay for the great success obtained.
