The Agramar Venue vibrated on Tuesday night with the emotion and talent of the murgas participating in the second phase of the XXXV Adult Murgas Contest of the Arrecife Carnival.
One of the most anticipated moments was the revelation of the six murgas that have made it to the grand final this Friday, in which they will face each other in a final and exciting battle for the title of the best murga of the Arrecife Carnival 2025: Las Inadaptadas, Los Desahuciados, Los Tabletúos, Las Vacilonas, Los Simplones and Los Intoxicados, which will be in that order according to the draw.
In addition, the names of the winning murgas in the category of Fantasy, Design and Costumes were announced. After a difficult deliberation, the jury awarded the first prize to Los Simplones; the second to Las Vacilonas; and the third to Los Desahuciados. In addition, it was revealed which murga won the Presentation prize, which went to Las Vacilonas.
The contest featured the presentation of Francisco José Navarro, who is celebrating his 50th anniversary on stage this year, and Carmen Nieves Pérez, accompanied in the backstage by Leandro Martín, in charge of collecting the impressions after the performances of the murgueros and murgueras, who demonstrated their creativity and dedication on stage.
Fantasies and themes
Las Enraladas dazzled with their fantasy "Guardians and housekeepers of our own circus, because we are tired of the one in Arrecife...", designed by Miriam and Davinia, performing the songs "Tell me your luggage and I'll tell you who you are" and "Moving forward backwards".
Las Faltonas presented their fantasy "The warrior of the rising sun: strength, honor and the forging of a carnival", designed by Toño Aparicio, and their songs "Las Faltonas open their Hypercarnival" and "Between armchairs and cigars come the smoke screens".
Los Desahuciados transported the public with "From an aurora borealis to Lanzarote, the last guardian of the Arctic", designed by Iván Marín Hormiga, and their themes "Agenda 2030" and "With my band of thieves, today I steal you".
Closing the night, Las Vacilonas performed strongly with their fantasy "Mirror, mirror... with glitter and my costume my magic returns to Carnival", by Josua Sánchez and Toño Aparicio, with the themes "A song without irony and with 300 slashes" and "The office".
During the jury's deliberation, the public enjoyed the performance of the Vocal Force Group, which made the attendees dance in a high-quality musical interlude. On Friday, the song deserving of the Criticón award will also be revealed.
The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, congratulates all the murgas for their effort and talent, and encourages citizens not to miss the grand final: "Tonight we have experienced a sample of the enormous level of our murgas. Congratulations to the finalists and thank you all for making us laugh and reflect with your lyrics. A spectacular final awaits us on Friday, we invite all of Arrecife and the entire Island to enjoy our Carnival".
