Los Jameos will host the tribute to the writer Ángel Guerra on 'Canary Islands Literature Day'

During the event that will take place next Saturday, February 21, so that the public can connect with the legacy left by the writer from Lanzarote

The Cabildo of Lanzarote joins the institutional event organized by the Government of the Canary Islands to celebrate the 'Canary Islands Literature Day 2024', which is commemorated on February 21 at Los Jameos del Agua. This event will pay tribute to the illustrious writer from Lanzarote, Ángel Guerra.

The island councilor for Education and the Publications Service Area, Ascensión Toledo, has expressed her satisfaction for this tribute to Ángel Guerra, highlighting that, "Lanzarote has always been a source of inspiration for our artists and writers. Ángel Guerra, with his unique perspective on island life, has enriched our cultural narrative.” This tribute is a great opportunity for the Canarian community to connect with the legacy of a writer who left an indelible mark on our literary history."

Ascensión explained that, “from the Publications Service Area, a special edition will soon be presented under the title ‘Angel Guerra. Latest Narrative', which includes the work and texts published in the press and written by the author.

On the other hand, and among the events organized on the occasion of 'Canary Islands Literature Day', there will also be a reissue of 'Canarian Stories', a compilation of texts that exhibit the writer's vision of the Archipelago, as well as the launch of a monographic magazine with articles in which different literary authorities will review his work.

Likewise, the corporation invites citizens to join the commemorative event of 'Canary Islands Literature Day 2024' in Los Jameos Del Agua, which will begin on February 21, and which will highlight the figure of Ángel Guerra, celebrating the lasting impact of his work on the cultural identity of the island.
