The Agramar Venue vibrated on Monday night with the first phase of the XXXV Adult Murgas Contest of the Arrecife Carnival, an event full of emotion framed in the program designed by the Department of Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, directed by the Deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio.
The gala, which took place in a festive atmosphere, with the public devoted to each of the performances, was led by the presenters Carmen Nieves Pérez and Francisco José Navarro on stage, and with Leandro Martín from the backstage capturing the first impressions of the participants.
Before starting this first phase, one of the four participants in the Children's Murgas Contest held on Sunday, Los Intoxicaditos, performed as a guest, on the occasion of the celebration this year of its 30th anniversary. They wore the fantasy "What are we going as? From the fine tribe of Valterra, my girl!, designed by its director Francis García, and performed the songs "Survivors All Star? No way! Survivors are you and I" and "From above, I'll tell you what I see".
After their intervention and after the presentation of the members of the jury, the Adult Murgas Contest began. The first to take the stage were Los Intoxicados, the oldest murga in the contest, with 43 years of existence and 53 members. With their fantasy "With this flousito the old men are arriving", designed by Pablo and Naira Luis, they performed the songs "La triple E" and "According to how you measure it", combining social criticism with the usual satire that characterizes them.
Next, Las Inadaptadas celebrated their 23 years in the Carnival with 55 members on stage. Under the direction of Raquel Cabrera and the presidency of Cathaysa Cabrera, they presented the fantasy "The art of singing and skating, 23 dreams made reality again today in the Carnival", a design of their own. Their repertoire included "An intensely emotional theme" and "Their faces sound familiar", earning the applause of the public.
The third murga of the night was the Afilarmónica Los Tabletúos, who with 22 years of life and 51 members put on the stage their fantasy "225 years and a dream to fulfill", work of Toño Aparicio. With "The small print" and "For rent", they managed to connect with the public, highlighting their characteristic humor and staging.
The evening closed with Los Simplones, who celebrated their 20th anniversary with a vibrant performance. With a fantasy designed by the murga itself under the title "Not everything is what it seems, the 20 years are present", they delighted the attendees with "The statement" and "The 3D scanner". Their 62 members achieved a great connection with their followers, who did not stop encouraging them.
The public filled the venue and the fans of each murga gave the necessary warmth to turn the night into a great party of criticism, humor and Carnival. This Tuesday the excitement will continue with the second phase of the contest, in which it will be the turn of Las Enraladas, Las Faltonas, Los Desahuciados and Las Vacilonas.
