The second phase of the XXXIV Adult Murgas Contest of the Arrecife Carnival culminated this Tuesday with "Las Inadaptadas" as winners of the First Prize for Fantasy, Design and Costumes. The second prize went to "Las Enraladas" and the third to "Los Tabletúos".
The Presentation prize was also awarded to the Murga "Los Simplones, who also won the Criticón prize, a recognition proposed by the murgas themselves, for their song "La Palanca".
Likewise, the names of the four murgas that will go to the grand final to be held on Friday, February 9, starting at 9:00 p.m. in the fairgrounds of the capital of Arrecife, located in the space of the old Agramar cannery, were announced, and they are: "Los Tabletúos" "Los Simplones", "Las Inadaptadas" and "Los Desahuciados".
It is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated events of the festive program designed by the Arrecife City Council, chaired by Yonathan de León, through the Department of Festivities, directed by Echedey Eugenio.
The carnival gala this Tuesday, presented by the historic Radio Lanzarote announcer Francisco José Navarro, the announcer Demelza Viñas and the actor and presenter Yeray Betancort, on stage, and the announcer Leandro Martín in the backstage, began with the performance of the children's murga "Los Noveleros", winner of the Interpretation, Lyrics and Music section of the VIII Children's Murgas Contest.
The second phase of the contest itself began with the murga "Los Intoxicados", chaired by Manuel Pérez and with Cristina Marrero in the musical direction.
The 35 members of this historic murga (Valterra 1982) took to the stage wearing the fantasy "For a fistful of mustaches", by designers Pablo Luis and Nayra Luis and performed the songs: "What would have happened if..." and "Nightmare in the City Council".
The second murga to perform was "Las Inadaptadas". Founded in Arrecife in 2002, it is chaired by Cataysa Cabrera and has Raquel Cabrera in the musical direction.
Its 55 members wore the allegory "With a piece of the West we have come to conquer this city and riding, riding, we ended up in the carnival", designed by the murga itself, and defended the themes: "We are your voice, today I sing your complaints" and "Silence is rolling!! Title of the movie: a butcher in the city".
The last to participate were the 58 members of the murga "Los Simplones", chaired by Mencey Curbelo and directed by Enrique Martín León. This murga, founded in Valterra in 2005, wore the allegory "Not silly at all, of totems... something", designed by the murga itself, and performed the songs: "The servants" and "La palanca".
The gala also featured the show "Those who take the pasta" by the group La Chirichota, with messages and songs full of humor and satire.
