The third edition of Lanzarote Fashion Weekend once again placed the island at the epicenter of creativity, aesthetic innovation, and sustainable fashion. Since last Thursday, November 6th, three days were dedicated to local and national talent, in an event that championed Lanzarote's identity as a space for inspiration, environmental respect, and dialogue between art and fashion.
The event, organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through the Lanzarote Moda program, and with the support of Turismo Lanzarote, Proexca, and the Government of the Canary Islands, took place from November 6th to 8th between Arrecife and Tías, bringing together designers, models, artists, and industry professionals around the philosophy of making fashion a language that narrates the island's essence.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted that this event demonstrates that fashion can also be a “space for consciousness, sustainability, and identity”. Betancort underscored the importance of Lanzarote Fashion Weekend reflecting the commitment of an island that is betting on a “sustainable future and that supports its young creators”.
Betancort thanked the work of all the designers and the collective team that make the event's consolidation possible. Likewise, he linked the connection of the Lanzarote Moda program with tourism, "a relationship that reinforces the island's external projection as a creative and sustainable destination".
The Fashion Talks, the dialogue between talent and territory
The program kicked off on Thursday at the Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa with the Fashion Talks, a space for reflection and conversation hosted by Eduardo Navarrete and Laura Sanchez, two national leaders in the sector.
Both shared their experience in the world of fashion, television, and entrepreneurship, offering the public an honest view of the industry's challenges and the importance of maintaining creative authenticity.
The talks addressed sustainability as a necessary commitment and the connection between local values and global trends. In a relaxed and participatory atmosphere, the audience was able to dialogue with the guests about how talent can flourish from places like Lanzarote, where the landscape, light, and calm inspire unique creative processes.
Fashion bows to María Cao
On Friday, the runway moved to Lanzarote Golf to host the opening of the market and an afternoon of fashion shows that highlighted brands such as Migongo, Margóneric, Art by Milo, and Paolo and Adorata Beatrice, demonstrating the strength of emerging design and the diversity of styles coexisting in the Canary Islands scene.
But the most emotional moment of the day arrived with the tribute to designer María Cao, an essential figure in the history of Lanzarote fashion. Since 1996, Cao has flown the flag of sustainability as the backbone of her work, turning recycling, reuse, and ethical design into a way of life.
The tribute was attended by the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, the Minister of Industry, Aroa Revelo, the Minister of Culture, Jesús Machín, the CEO of Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, and the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, the municipality that hosts the creator's atelier.
During the event, María Cao received a warm recognition from colleagues and authorities. "Her career reminds us that fashion can also be about conscience and respect. María was sustainable before sustainability was a trend," stated Betancort, who wanted to highlight "her ability to connect textile art with the soul of Lanzarote."
The event also featured a performance by Viviana Bassetti (Art Jewels), which fused art and fashion through jewelry pieces that seemed to dialogue with the island's volcanic environment.
An edition that looks to the future
The final day once again filled the Lanzarote Golf venue with creativity, with a runway that brought together established designers and brands such as Rosa Delgado, Nanni Jewelry, Azuvilas Sombrerera, Zayhan, Ula You, Angie Vásquez, and Oswaldo Machín.
Each runway show offered a different interpretation of territory and femininity, ranging from artisanal sophistication to experimentation with natural materials, and including a contemporary reinterpretation of color and volume.
The audience, comprised of industry professionals, institutional representatives, and design enthusiasts, enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere where music, lighting, and the surroundings blended with the collections.
Lanzarote, a sustainable benchmark for emerging creative talent in the Canary Islands
The third edition highlighted the importance of fashion as a vehicle for creativity, identity, and cultural and economic development on the island, in line with the event's philosophy that links art, nature, and sustainability.
Throughout the weekend, the event showcased how fashion can engage in dialogue with the environment, tradition, and innovation, becoming a space where local designers project their talent onto the international stage. This edition featured the participation of professional models and emerging and established brands that presented their proposals for the upcoming season, integrating sustainable materials and artisanal processes that reflect the Lanzarote identity.
Free and open public access allowed the style and design to be brought closer to citizens, reinforcing the connection between creativity and culture. Lanzarote Fashion Weekend 2025 has left a clear mark on the creative landscape of the Canary Islands, consolidating the island as a benchmark for sustainable fashion, emerging talent, and artistic innovation.
