To mark World Mental Health Day, the El Cribo Mental Health Association inaugurated this Wednesday the exhibition 32 years fighting for Mental Health at the Democracia Society, in Arrecife. The event was attended by the president, Rosa María González, Julio Santiago Obeso, Psychiatrist promoting this project, Marciano Acuña, Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and Maite Corujo, Councilor of Social Welfare of the City Council of Arrecife.

During their speeches, they all agreed that there is still much to be done, although some aspects of care for patients and families have been improved.

The exhibition consists of informative panels with photos and press clippings that reflect part of the work carried out in El Cribo from its beginnings to the present. As the president Rosa María González explained, the motto chosen this year is 'Work and mental health, a fundamental link', and focuses on the right of people with mental health problems to have a job and the right of all people to enjoy a healthy work environment.

Mental health and work are closely related and the work environment is one of the main factors that influences people's well-being. The president also had words of thanks for her predecessors at the head of the El Cribo Association since its inception, such as María Claire Mathías, first president, María Elena Villalba and Jesús María Fernández. Thanks to their efforts and dedication, El Cribo continues to provide a service to all patients with health problems and their families.

The event ended with the musical performance of El Cribo Canta formed by patients, family members and collaborators performing some songs from their album Sueños, such as El Vendedor or Lágrimas Negras.
