To mark the Canary Islands Day holiday, the Sociedad Democracia de Arrecife has organised different events for its members and the general public. On Monday night, the eve of Canary Islands Day, it offered a concert by the "Coral Polifónica Arrecife", directed by Professor Hernán Lorenzo, where the 25 choir members performed a wide and varied repertoire of compositions with Canarian roots such as Mararia, Lolita Pluma, Madre Canaria, Parranda Canaria or Nube de Hielo and songs composed by Canarian musicians and singers such as Braulio, Pedro Guerra or Benito Cabrera among others.

It had the collaboration of Professor Octavio Cancio in charge of the musical arrangements adapting them to the voices of the choir members who were accompanied on the piano by Professor Pepe Artiles, achieving the objectives set with flying colours.

The director Hernán Lorenzo was very satisfied with the dedication and professionalism of the whole team, who with so little time for rehearsals left the bar very high, receiving as a prize the applause of the audience.

Historical Data

The Arrecife Choir was formed in 2007 by a group of friends with a passion for choral singing with the sole aim of performing and singing the Canarian Mass by the composer Luis Prieto on the feast of San Ginés Obispo, patron saint of the city of Arrecife, as a reminder of the first director, Braulio de León Navarro, an illustrious citizen of Arrecife and tireless teacher of all those who in some way have belonged to the world of music, especially dedicated to choral singing: The number of members is always variable, collaborating in multiple activities and choral encounters held in Lanzarote.
