Medieval cartography expert Kevin R. Wittmann will speak on Thursday, December 5, in the Plaza de El Almacén with the lecture The Footprint of Maps, which highlights the crucial role that these representations have played in different cultures throughout history.

The presentation, which will take place this Thursday, December 5e at 7:30 p.m., within the framework of the XIV Lanzarote Film Festival, will be freely accessible to interested persons until full capacity is reached.

Through various examples of maps from different eras and cultural contexts, from Antiquity to the contemporary world, Kevin R. Wittmann will show how silence has built our vision of the world.

It should be remembered that the space hosts until the end of the month the installation 8 portraits 8 mutant stories of an island Lanzarote that combines the projection of insular cartographic silhouettes dated in various historical periods, with literary texts by local authors gathered in a free distribution newspaper.

Also in the context of that exhibition, Tenique Cultural offers the script workshop From portrait to story. Possible fabulations, which will be held in the same public space, on Wednesdays 11 and Thursdays 12 December, from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

During the activity, we will delve into the creation process through the experience of filmmaker Macu Machín, based on her work in the feature film La Hojarasca. The different ways of approaching the script during its writing, the moments of doubt and creative blocks, always from intuition, will be analyzed.

The workshop will be a space for exploration and play in which each participant will have the opportunity to write their micro story, seeking to evoke images, sounds and sensations of their own universe. Attendance requires registration through the link.

The Lanzarote Film Festival  has the collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism, the Society for the Promotion of Foreign Affairs of Lanzarote through its product brand Lanzarote Film Commission and the sponsorship of the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development (ICDC), the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts of Spain (ICAA), the Government of Spain through the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, the Government of the Canary Islands, Canary Islands Latitude of Life and the European Union, through the Next Generation EU initiative and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
