“Inadaptadas”, “Tabletuos” and “Enraladas" were the murgas that participated last night in the second phase of the XXXIII Arrecife Carnival Murga Contest 2023 that took place at the Recinto Feriall.

The performance of the children's murga “Los Noveleros”, which in the children's contest held last Saturday obtained two third prizes in the categories of “Fantasy, design and costumes” and “Interpretation, lyrics and music”, was in charge of setting the starting point for the start of the show before the three murgas participating tonight sang their daring lyrics and showed off their best finery.

Already within the contest, the female murga “Las Inadaptadas”, directed by Raquel Cabrera and chaired by Cataisa Cabrera, presented their candidacy for the grand final on Friday wearing a fantasy called “I give you the magic that my costume gives off”, designed by the members of the murga itself and made by Ana Guadalupe.

In the interpretation section, its forty-six members presented to the public the two themes chosen for this preliminary phase, “Giving thread and sequin I design arguments with this letter” and “The town radio”; before leaving the stage to give way to the murga afilarmónica “Los Tabletuos”, living history of the carnival.

The sixty members of the fantastic group, founded in 2003, entered the contest with a firm step wearing the fantasy “20 years without dropping anchor”, designed by Toño Aparicio. Perfectly directed by Crisanto Reyes, the murga chaired by Aday Cedrés interpreted, in the first place, “I invite this one” to continue with the theme entitled “Influenced”, with which they closed their performance.

Finally it was the turn of “Las Enraladas” who, living up to their name, and under the baton of Miriam Hernández Cabrera entered the contest with an unusual force showing the very numerous public that gathered at the Arrecife Fairgrounds their wonderful fantasy “Between the clock we enter and in madness we get entangled”, designed by Tauce Renda”.

The young murga chaired by Davinia Hernández Grimón, did not mind at all the responsibility of participating in only their second carnival and its forty-three members showed that they wanted to be in the final of the contest interpreting the themes “Much ado about nothing” and “An invisible friend for our city”.

With the performance clock at zero, the three contending murgas of the night picked up sails waiting for the great decision of the jury that will be announced after the third phase that will be held during the night of this Wednesday and that will decide which six murgas will pass to the final on Friday.
