From July 28th to August 10th, Puerto del Carmen will be filled with color, music, and devotion with the celebration of the traditional festivities of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Plaza del Varadero will be the epicenter of a program full of activities for all audiences, which includes the inaugural proclamation, the great festive night La Tiñosa y Más, and the maritime and land processions in honor of the Virgen del Carmen.
The festivities will begin on Monday, July 28th, with the decoration of the streets with the traditional paper flags that have been prepared during the last weeks. There will be a jolateros workshop, inclusive days for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and indoor soccer, giving way to fourteen days with different activities and performances.
Yaneli Hernández and Matías Alonso, Los Conejeros, a tribute to Canto del Loco, Fran Bernal, Adrián Niz, José Vicente, El Colorao, Ciro Corujo, Julia Rodríguez, Ludo, Güerma, Soul Project, Leyenda Joven, Starmusic, Rika Banda, Banda Nueva, Mambo Latino, Dani Valiente, a tribute to Raphael, Circ Glam Vintage, Elegance sextet, parranda Malpeis, Karma, The papas and the mojo, Nandy, Henry Méndez, Noa, Diego Sánchez, Los Gofiones, Renzo Selector, Wamampy, Armonía Show, Javi Fajardo, K-Narias, Tony Tun Tun, Jóvenes Cantadores and Arena will perform.
As in previous years, on weekends (August 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th), the Violet Point will be operational in Plaza del Varadero, a key initiative for the prevention of gender violence and awareness in leisure spaces. This space will be managed by specialized personnel and will serve as support and information for all people who require it.
The reading of the proclamation, by Teodora Rodríguez Fajardo, Dorita, will take place on August 31st at 8:00 p.m. in the church of Puerto del Carmen; and in the previous days we will have children's playback, youth meeting, canarian ball, diving workshop, the inauguration of the photographic exhibition about La Tiñosa and the presentation of the book El Cabosito Tiñosero, framed in the ZEConsciente project.
Town Artists Festival
By decision of the La Tiñosa Festival Commission, the Town Artists Festival will be renamed Town Artists Festival "Toño El Sapo", in homage to a person, Juan Antonio Acosta Fernández, who has always worked in that show. The XXIV edition of this festival will take place on Sunday, August 3rd at 9:00 p.m.
Also noteworthy are the VI edition of the Star Night Show, the popular race La Tiñosa-Barranco del Quíquire, the popular crossing La Tiñosa, the Letters for a Party contest, the regional soccer tournaments, beach soccer, beach volleyball, directed sports activities, dance for seniors, the tasting of Canarian sancocho and the mixed basketball tournament Team League.
The last weekend of the festivities will bring together good music and emotional religious events. On Saturday, August 9th, at 12:00 p.m., the maritime procession will take place, in which the image of the Virgin will be accompanied by dozens of decorated boats, departing from the pier of Puerto del Carmen. On Sunday, August 10th, starting at 7:00 p.m., after the mass sung by the Coral Marina, the traditional land procession will be held through the streets of the town.
