The El Aljibe Exhibition Hall in Haría hosts until June 24th the exhibition Wheels. Art and Tradition, by the master craftsman of wood Manuel Perdomo Cabrera. The exhibition hours are from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

From a very young age, he has dedicated his entire life to working with wood in his father's carpentry shop. At that time, the jobs consisted of shaping 'barrel' barrels, tools for the trades, the occasional bed, doors and windows.

But Manuel, in the few free moments he had, built his own toys, feeling a deep admiration for everything that had to do with movement, with a preference for wheels, of which he has many in different sizes and shapes, expanding his heritage with other works such as pendulums and wind toys.

The museum work of Manuel Perdomo is very extensive. Works of art, each different in size and color, all of them made with noble woods, highlighting the mulberry tree, a noble and strong wood at the same time because it adapts very well to curves. He also works with other woods such as sapelli, oak, the most frequent that arrive in Lanzarote, and mahogany, the latter already disappeared from the market as it is protected.

When Manuel Perdomo started working in the carpentry shop, making doors and windows didn't really mean anything to him, he didn't feel fulfilled and wanted to discover something different, since since his childhood his passion was wheels and when he had the opportunity, he began to design and build bicycles. Currently, he has about ten of them, all different, and when time allows, he takes a walk around the town.

Perdomo has a wide and varied collection of works of art, unique museum pieces created with great affection and where, when it comes to shaping them, time does not count because for him his greatest satisfaction is to see the end of the work and be able to enjoy it.

The next project would be to complete the collection of bicycles, a total of twelve, of which ten are already finished and which would be exhibited in his own museum and which sooner rather than later will be located in a part of the family home, located in the heart of Haría. Without a doubt, it will become a cultural center where visitors can admire all these works that with so much passion, work and affection he has created throughout his life where the old is rediscovered new in the hands of this man, Manuel Perdomo Cabrera, the Master Craftsman of Wood.
