The Tradition and Folklore Awards have awarded Francisco José Navarro, mythical Lanzarote announcer and presenter, with the 'Lifetime Achievement' award for his 50 years of career as "a man who has dedicated his life to keeping alive the voice of the carnival and folklore of Lanzarote."
"From his beginnings, Francisco José became an undisputed reference of the Lanzarote carnival. His voice, unmistakable and full of nuances, has given life to countless events, spreading his enthusiasm to entire generations. His talent as a herald, presenter and animator has been key to keeping alive the flame of this festival so rooted in the local culture," the organization declares.
In addition, they describe him as "a humble and approachable man, always willing to share his knowledge and experience with those who approach him. His passion for the culture of Lanzarote is contagious, and his voice, a symbol of identity and pride for all who love this land."
