The Lanzarote natives Carlos Betancort Durá, Kevin Untierrez and Lucía Martín will travel to Gran Canaria accompanied by the director, designer and sponsor Carlos Alonso to participate in the Miss and Mister World International Las Palmas. The contest is divided into three qualifying galas —sports, night bathing— and will be held on April 1 at 8:00 p.m. at the Vistaflor hotel in Maspalomas.
The candidate Lucía Martín Hernández is 18 years old and will be the representative of Miss World Las Salinas. The young woman won the titles of Miss Tinasoria and Miss Zona Centro Las Salinas in 2022. In addition, she is a professional dancer at the Lanzarote Baila school —her teacher is Miguel Medina— and is finishing high school. Apart from Carlos Alonso, her sponsors are Ary Martín, Hamburguesería Tentempié and El Fondeadero restaurant.
On the other hand, there is Carlos Betancort Durá, who is 26 years old and is a cook and passionate about music. He is currently also dedicated to martial arts and the gym. In 2019 he won Mister Tinasoria and Mister Las Salinas and in the April contest he will represent MisterInternational Las Salinas and will be represented by Carlos Alonso. He has participated in charity fashion shows to raise toys for Christmas and has also walked for a prestigious bridal wear brand, Boutique Eros.
Kevin Umpiérrez will also participate, he is 26 years old and is the father of two young children. Although he has no experience in the fashion industry, he will be representing Mister International Tinasoria, which would correspond to the current Mizrain Ramos. He is fond of music, the gym and fishing, a fact that made him win a fishing championship in 2013. His sponsors are the Élite hairdresser, the Dominique barber shop, Hinchables Timanfaya, Pizzeria Venecia, Lanzarote Kebab and also Carlos Alonso.
"As director and delegate I am enormously grateful for the trust that the sponsors, family members and the organization place in us. It is a pleasure to work for this brand once again and I am especially grateful to my participants, not only for the event, but also for previous occasions that make it easier for me to work with them. Apart from the friendship that unites us, they are exemplary, educated and constant. I am very happy to be able to be the one who contributes to the illusions of these Lanzarote natives, who fulfill their dreams once again and I also fulfill them with them. My motto is either things are done well or they are not done," says Alonso.
From the Lanzarote organization they explain that the entrance to the event will cost 20 euros and will include a drink. The contestants will participate in various activities: imposition of bands, official photographs and the great Talent Show test, with scoring for the final gala. From Lanzarote they also thank "the organization of Las Palmas and the Miss and Mister World International Spain, Ana Pilar Suárez and the Cref del Olmo team for the attention received, the treatment and the opportunity they offer to the participants."
Samuel Roble, another Lanzarote native who will attend the event
Apart from Lucía, Carlos and Kevin, the Lanzarote native Samuel Roble will also attend the Miss and Mister World International Las Palmas event, a young man with whom Carlos Alonso had worked on some occasion in the past.
For this reason, Alonso wants to wish him "good luck in this new experience" and thanks him for having been part of his team in other beauty contests. Roble participated in Miss International Tinasoria and Miss International Las Salinas in 2013, 2017 and 2022 and will be the representative of Mister International Arrecife.
