After two years of stoppage due to Covid-19, on Friday night the popular music group Acatife de Teguise, very supported by the public that completely filled the capacity of the municipal tent of La Villa, celebrated its XXVIII Festival.

The group was directed in the musical part by Ito Hernández, and the voices by José Antonio Elías, with an impeccable staging and where all together, players and soloists, conquered all those present, who during their entire intervention rewarded them with resounding applause.

Acatife began its performance by winking at the island of La Palma with the song, "El Diablo de Timanfaya" continuing with folías. Alfredo Cabrera, a founding member and man with a great cultural background, was in charge of explaining to the public the historical basis of each of the songs that Acatife performed during his performance, such as "Ana Viciosa", "Rico y Plañideras", "Mi pueblo y César", dedicated the latter to the universal artist from Lanzarote, with lyrics by the writer and poet Jaime Quesada, and which was performed by the young Almudena Hernández, a unique voice for a very special song. During the night, "Seguidillas", "Isas" and others also sounded, ending with "Guajira Linda".

Next, the highest award "Volcán de Plata" was presented, which Acatife grants to people who work to keep Canarian culture alive, with this year's award going to Elfidio Alonso Quintero, founder and first director of the most successful group in the Canary Islands "Los Sabandeños", which has an extensive curriculum of recognitions and awards throughout its career.

Carlos Hernández, president of Acatife, had the honor of presenting the "Volcán de Plata" to Elfidio before an audience standing and applauding the teacher, at which time the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, and the Councilor for Culture and Festivities, Nori Machín, also presented him with the sculpture of the Diablete.

The second part of the festival featured the performance of the popular music group Los Sabandeños, the greatest exponents of traditional music from the islands and the most recognized Canarian group nationally and internationally. Directed by Israel Espino, and with the introductions in each of Elfidio Alonso's songs, they conquered the large audience that enjoyed each of the songs, participating with them in some of the choruses such as "El Cuarto de Tula", "Que Tenderete" or the pasodoble "Islas Canarias" among others. Without a doubt, the public enjoyed a unique night where music was the main protagonist.
