After two years of suspension due to the pandemic, the faithful returned to the hermitage of Los Dolores to fulfill their promise to the Virgin to thank her for stopping the volcano in 1824.
At 6:00 p.m. in the exterior of the Sanctuary, the Eucharist was celebrated, presided over by the parish priest of Tinajo and San Bartolomé, Francisco García. Once the Eucharist was finished, the hymn was sung and immediately afterwards the image of Our Lady of Sorrows, accompanied by the devotees, processed around the Sanctuary. Upon arriving at the portico, the image was dismissed with loud applause.
On July 31, 1824, the volcano of the Chaplaincy of Clérico Duarte erupted, terrorizing the residents of the towns of Tiagua and Tao, who watched as the lava ran again, burying the fertile fields and also endangering their homes.
