The El Fondeadero Civic Center, in Puerto del Carmen, was the chosen venue for the closing of the VI Congress H, an international academic meeting dedicated to humanities, communication, and audiovisual production that, for four days, turned Lanzarote into a meeting point for researchers, teachers, and professionals from more than a dozen countries.
The sixth edition of the congress brought together specialists from different fields around seven thematic lines, developing an intense program of presentations, conferences, workshops, and cultural activities in a privileged environment.
The closing took place on the afternoon of last Friday. At 7:00 PM, the congress participants took their seats in the auditorium of the El Fondeadero Civic Center to enjoy the magnificent concert Alisio, organized by the Tías City Council as a farewell and closing event for this important international meeting. The event was presided over by the Councilor for Culture of the Tías City Council, Pepa González.
The concert featured the participation of two outstanding Lanzarote musicians; the timple player José Vicente Pérez and the guitarist Adrián Niz. The young Lanzarote singer Araceli Bravo and the Gran Canaria performer Manuel Estupiñán performed as soloists, captivating the audience with their extraordinary interpretations.
From the first chords, the attendees showed their enthusiasm with continuous applause, while many of them immortalized each moment through photographs and recordings that will serve as a souvenir of their time on the island.
The repertoire included pieces deeply rooted in Canarian musical tradition, such as the Seguidilla, the Folía, the Malagueña, the Mazurca, and the Aíres de Lima de Valsequillo. All of them were received with a warm ovation from the congress participants, pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the musicians and the strength and sensitivity of the solo voices.
During the concert, José Vicente Pérez and Adrián Niz also offered several instrumental performances, allowing the singers a brief rest and demonstrating, once again, their extraordinary musical mastery.
The Councilor for Culture, Pepa González, was equally impressed by the development of the show and personally congratulated the musicians and singers for the excellent work done. The concert concluded with all participants sharing the traditional Isa Parrandera, thus putting the finishing touch to an unforgettable evening that will undoubtedly remain in the memory of the congressmen, who were able to say goodbye to Lanzarote enjoying the richness of its popular music and the hospitality of its people.
The closing day ended on the terrace of the El Fondeadero Civic Center with a traditional Canarian enyesque, in an atmosphere of coexistence and celebration that put an end to four days of academic and cultural exchange.
