Aynara Elvira, with the fantasy ‘It is felt in the air’ inspired by the Charco Verde of El Golfo and designed by Rafa Denis and Rosa Montesdeoca, was proclaimed last night Queen of the Arrecife Carnival 2026 in a brilliant gala organized by the Department of Festivals directed by the deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio, and in which Gara Toledo was chosen as the Children's Queen with the fantasy ‘The imperial fire flower’, inspired by China and designed by Pedro Vizcaíno.
The title of First Lady of Honor of the Arrecife Carnival 2026 in the adult category went to Noelia Rodríguez, who wore the fantasy ‘Grahana’ inspired by a lunar eclipse and designed by Fran Brenes; and the Second Lady of Honor title went to Montse Seco with the fantasy ‘The eternal flight of a goddess’, a creation by Pedro Vizcaíno inspired by butterflies and Greek aesthetics.

All awarded
In this way, the five candidates for Queen of the Arrecife Carnival received distinctions, just as happened with the four candidates participating in the Children's Queen category, in which Leah Burgos, with the fantasy ‘Little mirror don't ask me anymore’, designed by Rafa Denis and Rosa Montesdeoca and inspired by a Disney story, was proclaimed First Lady of Honor.
The title of Second Maid of Honor to the Child Queen fell to Indira Morales, who wore the fantasy ‘With these turbulent times my flowers have not stopped growing’, inspired by a flower garden and also designed by Pedro Vizcaíno; and that of Third Maid of Honor went to Adela de la Nuez with Paula Santana’s design ‘The world of the Lunnis’, inspired by said children’s series.
Allegory of Carnival
Precisely the characters from children's series of the 80s and 90s, an allegory of this year's Arrecife Carnival, were the common thread of the brilliant show experienced last night at the Arrecife Fairgrounds under the artistic direction of Yonay Alonso, which featured performances by the very famous King África and the voice of Carnival throughout the Canary Islands, singer Anaé.
Led by Laura San José and Yeray Betancor, with support from backstage by Leandro Martín, the gala featured the participation of Carnival and artistic groups from Lanzarote, such as the Sur Caliente comparsa, the dance schools Xtreme Dance Studio, Daniel de la Rosa and MT Dance, as well as Hero and Co.
The energy, rhythm, and creativity displayed by all the participants in the Gala, along with the dedication of the numerous audience present at the Fairgrounds, offered this Thursday an impactful night that will undoubtedly contribute to the consolidation of the Arrecife Carnival, as an indispensable benchmark of the Canary Islands Carnival.
In this regard Echedey Eugenio expresses his gratitude “to candidates, designers, sponsors, artistic and technical team, groups, as well as to the attending public, for their total dedication, and to each and every one of the people who have made possible the development of this magnificent gala that from the City Council we have managed to recover as one of the most emblematic events of our Carnival”.
