The Haría City Council, together with the Arrieta Festival Commission, has published the calendar for the Festivities of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. From July 20 to 26, residents will be able to enjoy a program that includes cultural, gastronomic, musical activities, among others.
The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, highlights festivities that represent one of the traditions and pay homage to the local fishermen. Likewise, Alberto de León, Councilor for Festivities, invites the public to attend the festivities designed for all residents.
The program will kick off on Monday, July 20 at 5:00 PM with a parade from La Garita to the pier, followed by a surprise bingo and, finally, a fashion show accompanied by a performance by the MTDANCE dance school.
The week will feature numerous activities, including a baking contest, a treasure hunt, and trick-taking championships. The Verano Joven 2026 will also take place at SinEdad and the playback show ‘Our Artists Return’
On Thursday, the popular barbecue will be held in honor of Pilar María Villalba Cabrera, organized by the Festival Commission, which will also feature the traditional burning of El Costero and performances by Alegranza and the parranda Los Valles.
The weekend will concentrate a good part of the activities. On Friday there will be a mattress race on the pier, followed by a gymkhana and a popular festival with performances by Swing del Norte, Tremendo Son, Javi Fajardo, and Vocal Force.
On Saturday, the party will begin at 10:00 AM with a surf competition, followed by a color party with DJs and mattresses. It will also feature the presentation of the book El viaje de Yazmina, half an hour later the town will have a raffle and championships of chinchón and cinquillo. In the evening, there will be performances by Swing del Norte, Vocal Force, and Tremendo Son.
To close the festivities, on Sunday, July 26, the Mass in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be held, accompanied by the Iris del Mar choir at 12:00 PM. Subsequently, the land and sea procession will take place. The program will conclude that night with a final gala in La Garita.
Likewise, the Consortium opens the application period for participation in the maritime procession of the Fiestas del Carmen, which will take place on the last day of the festival, Sunday, July 26 in Arrieta. The application period will be open until Thursday, July 23, and it can be submitted in person at the General Registry or online, through the Electronic Headquarters.
