Arrecife experienced its 'Big Day' this Friday, August 25th, the celebration of the Festival of San Ginés, Patron Saint of the municipality, which this year celebrates its 225th anniversary coinciding with the founding in 1798 of the Parish of San Ginés Obispo, an event that gave rise to its creation.
From morning to night, the city was flooded by a cheerful bustle caused by the thousands of people who gathered at the events programmed by the City Council.
More than 60,000 people at the fireworks
Late in the afternoon, thousands of people vibrated with the "prodigious" concert offered on El Reducto Beach by the Cuban duo Gente de Zona; and at its conclusion a multitude crowded the maritime front of the capital of Lanzarote to contemplate with admiration how the Arrecife night was illuminated with the burning of fireworks.
According to the technicians who are monitoring from the Security Control Unit of the Festivals, on Friday night "more than 60,000 people" gathered on El Reducto beach to enjoy the concert and fireworks night. For many of the attendees, these fireworks have been among the "most spectacular and applauded by the public".
Remember that the San Ginés festivities conclude this Saturday with the celebration in the Islas Canarias Park of the 'Fiesta de la Chola', with performances by Zumba Live Music, Dj Elvis, Rikabanda, Manny Manuel Tribute, Aseres, Juan Luis Guerra Tribute, Zapato Veloz and Batucada Menuda Caña.
Sports
In addition, the program of the 'Arrecife Patron Saint Festivities' includes for this Saturday, August 26, the start, from 6:00 p.m. in the Titerroy Pavilion, of the 'XLVI San Ginés Handball Tournament 2023' with the match between 'Landbit Lanzarote' and 'BM Gáldar'.
And the first day of the 'Lanzarote Summer Challenge 2023' is also celebrated until 7:00 p.m. between Playa del Reducto and Islote de la Fermina; which will continue this Sunday, August 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Islote de la Fermina.

Likewise, this Saturday, August 26 will be the last day in which you can enjoy the Traditional Ventorrillos in the La Recova Market, where you can taste the exquisite products of Canarian enogastronomy from 7:00 p.m. while enjoying live performances by parrandas and orchestras.
And it should also be remembered that the Fairgrounds will remain open until Sunday, August 27 full of attractions and with an inclusive hour - from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - to favor the stay of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special sensitivities, in which the sound is cut and the light intensity is attenuated.
