The Arrecife City Council is launching this weekend a dynamizing proposal that aims to recover the squares of the neighborhoods as places of coexistence and neighborhood meetings enlivened with musical performances by conejeras parrandas. The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, together with the councilor of Acts and Events, Óscar López, have promoted this dynamization plan to bring leisure to the interior of the neighborhoods of Arrecife, where nearly 80% of the capital's population resides.

Coinciding with the week before Canary Islands Day, the Department of Acts and Events launches 'Barrios de Parranda' which will program six musical performances by parranda groups, which will perform in an itinerant way through different neighborhoods of the capital of Lanzarote from May to the end of June.

Yonathan de León has detailed that Arrecife "is a city close to 70,000 inhabitants, characterized by the multiculturalism of those of us who love and cherish the city in which we were born and live, and through the parranda meetings - very linked to the Canarian idiosyncrasy - we hope that it will activate the cohesion and coexistence of the neighborhood."

In addition, the mayor has highlighted that, "in the neighborhoods of Arrecife, which he knows personally and directly, there is a varied hotel offer, where bars, cafeterias, pizzerias or hamburger restaurants operate, which we want to help by ensuring that residents frequent them by bringing leisure and dynamization activities to the squares of the neighborhoods." De León Machín recalled that "We invest to improve our neighborhoods with better facilities and public spaces, and we also bring leisure and dynamization to the neighborhoods," he remarked.

Óscar López, as the highest responsible for the Department of Acts and Events, together with the team of his Area, has organized six parranda performances for the coming weekends, with performances by musical groups of Canarian atmosphere, which are originally from Lanzarote. Many of these parrandas have performed in the successful ventorrillos that the City Council has rescued for its patron saint festivities, with performances in La Recova.

The councilor has pointed out that the first appointment with Barrios de Parranda will start this coming Saturday, May 18, in the Altavista neighborhood. The terrace of the Senior Center, next to the Los Luchadores park, will host the musical performances of the parrandas Pa'l Porrón and Tebete, who will play between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

The next area to host 'Barrio de Parrandas' will be Valterra, on June 8, between 8:00 p.m. and 00:30 a.m. on June 9. Here, in this fishing neighborhood, the groups Son de Mar and Pa'l Porrón will perform.

The Department of Acts and Events has planned that these musical performances will conclude on the eve of San Juan, where there will be a festive bridge in the capital of Lanzarote. This first edition is within the acts for the 225th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Arercife,
