The cultural agenda prepared for this month of March by the Arrecife City Council includes 'Negras', the first musical production by the famous Lanzarote comedian Kike Pérez. The performance of this 90-minute "musical journey through black culture" will take place this Friday, March 8th, coinciding with the celebration of International Women's Day, starting at 8:00 p.m. at the Teatro Cine Atlántida. The capital city council's cultural events program also includes the traveling photography exhibitions 'Tattoos', by the Derecho y Justicia Association, and 'Breastfeeding', by the Las Palmas Nursing Association, both of which open this Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the Argana Alta and San Francisco Javier socio-cultural centers, respectively.
Also, the collective exhibition 'Your silence will not protect you', which opens this Thursday the 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, with a guided tour by its protagonists. This same space will host a new session of the 'VIII Cycle of Classical Concerts of Arrecife 2024. Music and Literature' the following day, March 8th, with the interpretation of Natasha Tichitch, on viola, and Josy Okiñena, on piano. A cycle that will continue in March on Thursday, March 14th with 'OCL Quintet' and on Friday, March 22nd with David Ballesteros, Andrea Chicho and Luis López.
Religious and Canarian music
On Saturday the 9th, starting at 8:00 p.m. at La Recova, there will be the presentation of the album with a marked Canarian accent 'Guiguan', by the trio composed of Alexis Lemes on timple, Javier Infante on Spanish guitar and Javier Colina on double bass and accordion.
That same day and at the same time, the Santa María de la Vega Church will host the first session, entitled 'O lux beata', of the 'XVIII Festival of Religious Music of the Canary Islands', which will continue the following day on the same stage with the interpretation of 'Ecstasy to the Divine' starting at 1:00 p.m.
At 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13th, the author Ana María Angueira Quintas will present the book 'The Kiss of Venus' at the Casa de la Cultura; and the following day, at the same time and in the same space, Carmen Polo will present her work 'Adventures and Misadventures of a 20th Century Woman'.
And rock will once again take center stage at the Municipal Recova of Arrecife on Friday, March 15th, starting at 8:00 p.m., with the concert offered by 'Fajardo + Ajeeb'.
