The Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture in Arrecife will host this Tuesday, starting at 8:00 p.m., the presentation of the book 'Francisco Cabrera Matallana (1935-1943), 85 years later'. Its author Daniel Cabrera, who will present his first publication in the world of historiography, will hold a dialogue with the prologuist Sergio Millares moderated by Mario Alberto Perdomo.
"This type of stories provide experiences and knowledge about what our ancestors lived through in a time as complicated as the Civil War," said the Councilor for Culture of the Arrecife City Council, José Alfredo Mendoza.
The book dates the life of Francisco Cabrera between the years 1935 and 1943, a period in which he traveled to the capital of Spain to prepare for the Customs examinations when the civil war broke out. According to the City Council, Cabrera tried to avoid the conflict, but finally he was enlisted in the Republican side and ended up locked in a detention camp until the war ended.
Now, after 20 years since his death, his son, Daniel Cabrera, has decided to tell his father's story and publish his first historiographical novel. "What moves me is to prevent the terrible episode experienced by my father from falling into oblivion with the passage of generations," his son highlights.
