On Thursday night, the emblematic Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz in Arrecife once again became a refuge of emotion and music with the celebration of the concert Mano a Mano, starring José Manuel Ramos, Ciro Corujo and Salvador Pérez. At 7:30 p.m., with the venue completely full and an audience captivated from the first moment, a soirée began that soon ceased to be a simple concert to become an intimate encounter between musicians, singers, and attendees.
Boleros, ballads, and rancheras set the rhythm of a night full of nostalgia and sentiment, rescuing songs that for years accompanied so many generations from the radio waves in programs as remembered as Lanzarote va de Ronda, broadcast for decades on Radio Lanzarote. Each performance awakened shared memories and emotions in a warm and close atmosphere.
José Manuel Ramos, from a prominent lineage of singers from Punta del Hidalgo, in Tenerife, once again demonstrated why he is one of the most beloved voices of Canarian folklore. Beside him, Ciro Corujo, heir to a lineage, Los Corujo, of deep-rooted folkloric tradition from San Bartolomé de Lanzarote, brought closeness, sensitivity, and authenticity, while Salvador Pérez demonstrated his musical mastery, dominating the requinto with admirable elegance.
Mano a Mano broke any usual protocol from the very first moment. The artists sang surrounded by the audience, without barriers or artifices, to the point that the electronic sound equipment proved practically unnecessary. The music flowed naturally, creating an almost familiar atmosphere where each song seemed to emerge from the very heart of the attendees.
The Councilor for Culture of the Arrecife City Council, Abigail González, together with the team of municipal officials, worked intensely so that no one remained standing, even occupying the central staircase of the Casa de la Cultura due to the large influx of public, a detail that reflected the enormous interest aroused by this musical proposal.
As the night progressed, the audience ceased to be mere spectators to become active protagonists of the concert, singing entire songs and unforgettable choruses by eternal authors such as José Alfredo Jiménez, Javier Solís or Agustín Lara.
One of the most endearing moments came when little Cirito took his timple and, supported by the musicians, performed some emotional folías that brought smiles, tenderness, and a loud ovation from those present. It was, without a doubt, one of those scenes that remain etched in collective memory.
The almost two hours of performance passed with such naturalness and complicity that time seemed to stand still. The audience, completely immersed in that atmosphere of closeness and enjoyment, was barely aware of the passing minutes. And when the end came, no one wanted to say goodbye.
Standing and enveloped in a prolonged ovation, musicians, singers, and attendees ended united in a lively Isa Parrandera that provided the perfect closing to a night where artistic quality, simplicity, and human warmth were the true protagonists.
After the concert concluded, Abigail González shared a few minutes with the musicians and singers, congratulating them on the resounding success of a proposal that confirmed, once again, that music experienced up close possesses an unforgettable magic.
