The actress Antonia San Juan has announced that she has cancer in a video published in the early hours of this Thursday on her social networks in which she explained that she is withdrawing from the stage for a while to heal: "I fully trust science."

The interpreter (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1961) has explained that she will move away from the stage to focus on her treatment. "When they analyze the biopsy, they will tell me what type of cancer it is and if it has a solution. I fully trust science and now what I have to do is follow the treatment they give me," she said.

Known for her work in All About My Mother (1999) or in the television series La que se avecina, she explains that she has always had chronic pharyngitis: "This year I have suspended functions for that reason, until the other day I went to the family doctor and he told me that he saw a problem in the vocal cords."

"He sent me to the otolaryngologist, he did tests on me, a CT scan, they have done everything to me. They did a biopsy and they have already given me the half diagnosis: I have cancer," she said.

The actress concludes the statement saying that her life "has been and is beautiful" and that she does not like to complain or that people have "compassion" for her; "I only want to thank those who are there. If you see that I am not active, well, it is because I am sick. Thank you all and I am going to do everything possible to heal. A hug. Thank you."
