The public has sold out tickets for the three scheduled performances of the expected stage production Mararía la de Femés, which will take place at the Pérez Galdós Theater on June 29 and 30 and July 1, two weeks before its premiere.
Inspired by the iconic novel Mararía that the Tenerife writer Rafael Arozarena (1923-2009) published 50 years ago, this production of the Pérez Galdós Theater and unahoramenos, programmed within the framework of the 'Second Reading' initiative, is directed by Mario Vega and has a cast that includes the actress Marta Viera, the actor Mingo Ruano and the singer LAJALADA, author of the sound space of the montage, whose dramaturgical version is signed by Professor Yeray Rodríguez.
There is not a single ticket left at the box office of the capital's coliseum for this play that offers the public an immersive experience on the stage of the Pérez Galdós Theater itself. Sponsored by the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council, Mararía la de Femés will premiere within the framework of the city's Founding Festivities.
The production work of the Pérez Galdós Theater has increased in recent years, becoming a very important part of its programming. The inclusion of its own production and co-productions within the Music and Literature, Antiqvua, Laboratorio Galdós or Segunda Lectura cycles are good proof of this. The intention of the Pérez Galdós Theater in its own production and the co-productions in which it is involved with Canarian producers is not limited to the premiere in the capital's venue, but is a firm commitment to Canarian talent and its recognition, beyond the walls of the theater, supporting its departure to the outside, both to the rest of the islands and to the Peninsula.
And that is precisely what will happen with Mararía la de Femés, which, after its premiere at the Pérez Galdós Theater, will embark on a tour of different stages in the Canary Islands. For the moment, Mararía la de Femés can be enjoyed on July 7 at the Teatro Guimerá in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in a single performance scheduled at 8:30 p.m.; as well as on July 9 at the Teatro Víctor Jara in Vecindario at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this last scheduled performance are already on sale on the platform www.entrees.es
The design of the Mararía la de Femés proposal is projected to achieve a timelessness of the version, so there is a decontextualization in the entire aesthetics of the montage, from the costumes to the scenography. In addition, the complex, fluid and rich creativity of the piece is manifested both in the sound space and in the multiplicity of languages and theatrical codes used with a radically contemporary aesthetic and look.
