Adriana Marrero and Noa Toledo have become the winners of the 'Youth Category' and 'Adult Category' of the 'VII Short Story and Micro-Story Contest' of AFOL. An event held last Thursday afternoon at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz.
The ceremony was attended by the president of AFOL, Carmen Arrocha, the president of the Rotary Club of Lanzarote, José Luis Otaduy, the members of the jury; Lorena Curbelo, Manuel Martín Arroyo, Rafael Montero. The permitted capacity was completed with the participants in the contest and family and friends who came to support them.
Carmen Arrocha addressed those present informing them that in this 'VII Contest', expressing that "we realize that this disease, which is still quite difficult despite advancing very slowly, but we need the commitment of everyone to continue in the fight." A commitment that "you demonstrate by supporting it with stories and micro-stories that are part of our lives," Arrocha revealed.
"Therefore, we continue to propose, as an objective, to offer this writing space, where narration, expression, feelings, fears, laughter, strength, importance... take place to tell the essence that lives in our being, because sometimes words prevent us from expressing them." "That makes us reflect and look for the reality of this disease to continue fighting and supporting it."
"In addition, to raise awareness among young people that writing a story can be as diverse as the author wishes, and its teaching, however difficult it may seem, makes us strong not to discriminate against any area of life, because we have to be prepared for everything that may come," she said. "For the association, participation will always be a success, because everyone exposes the way they see and understand life," she added. Carmen concluded by thanking the teachers of IES Costa Teguise for their participation and the rest of the IES on the island, that "they see how important it is to encourage students to write and participate."
Next, the names of the winners in the 'Youth Category' were announced, with the first prize going to Adriana Marrero Cabrera, valued at 200 euros and a diploma, the second prize went to Amy Brau, an award valued at 100 euros and a diploma. In the 'Adult Category', the first prize, valued at 400 euros and the diploma, went to Noa Toledo Arrocha, and the second prize, valued at 200 euros and the diploma, went to Diana Díaz Guazo.
The event ended with the protocol photograph, in which representatives of the association and the winners of the contest appear.
