The Jable case, the trial for the last piece of the Unión case that remains to be judged, will resume on September 13 before the Second Section of the Provincial Court. This was reported by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands. This represents a delay of two days with respect to the scheduled date.

Likewise, the following sessions will be on Friday the 15th and Monday the 18th of September. Among the accused will appear the former mayor of Arrecife Isabel Déniz (2000-2007), who faces the alleged authorship of the continued crimes of prevarication and bribery, as well as illicit association.

It should be remembered that the trial was scheduled for last April 19, but Déniz's illness forced the Court to postpone the hearing until the politician was seen by a forensic doctor. The former member of the Independent Party of Lanzarote (PIL) and the Canarian Coalition faces 13 years in prison and has already acknowledged that she received "gifts" worth 45,000 euros from the companies Urbaser and Fomento Construcciones y Contratas (FCC). These bribes were given in exchange for receiving the contracts for garbage and cleaning in Arrecife and the construction of the Argana Alta pavilion, respectively.

Déniz's has not been the only confession so far. Before her, the former senior officials of Urbaser Manuel de Andrés Martínez and Santiago Alonso Herrero admitted to having committed a crime of bribery by bribing to obtain the garbage and cleaning contract in Arrecife.

Meanwhile, the former FCC executive Enrique Hernández Martín confessed to having given gifts to Isabel Déniz in exchange for obtaining the tender for the sports hall in the Arrecife neighborhood.

Operation Jable was named by the Central Operative Unit (UCO) and named as the most complex judicial case in the Canary Islands due to its extension and volume.

Another 11 people remain accused in the case, after the Public Prosecutor's Office withdrew the accusation against five investigated parties last Monday: Enrique Astorga, Manuel Jesús Isidro Spínola, Julio Romero, Daniel Hernández Caraballo and Rafael Antonio Corujo.

Among them, the historical leader of the Independent Party of Lanzarote (PIL), DÍmas Martín, the former head of the Technical Office of the Arrecife City Council Juan Rafael Arrocha and the former secretary of the corporation, Felipe Fernández Camero, remain under investigation. In addition, former senior officials of Urbaser, a former FCC leader, the former socialist secretary Miguel Ángel Leal, as well as the partners of Déniz and Martín as participants for lucrative purposes.
