The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will judge next June 19 two defendants for captaining a pneumatic boat between Morocco and Lanzarote.

The precarious boat arrived in Lanzarote on March 16, 2024, around 10:05 in the morning. 22 migrants were traveling inside it.

The Public Prosecutor's Office accuses M.N., born in Senegal, and O.T., born in Ivory Coast, of allegedly charging "various amounts of money" to at least four migrants to take them to the Canary Islands. All this, "in agreement with other unidentified people."

The Prosecutor's Office assures that both allegedly captained the boat from the Moroccan coasts to Spain, "knowing that they were violating the rules on entry into the national territory and that once they arrived, they would be in an irregular situation."

The boat, as usual, lacked a security system, life jackets, tarpaulins and water.

The Prosecutor's Office requests a prison sentence of eight years for each of the accused, special disqualification for passive suffrage during the term of the sentence and payment of costs.
