The prosecutor does not believe the defendants and asks that they be convicted of the death of Juan V.G.

For their part, the defendants, Rubén H.M. and Suffian D., have both denied the crimes charged by the Prosecutor's Office: the homicide of Juan V.G., the breaking of the door of his home, and threats to his brother Benjamín, with whom the victim lived.

Prosecutor Joaquín Manuel Bobillo has maintained the request for 17 years in prison for the two defendants accused of ending the life of Juan V.G. with a stab wound on the night of March 1, 2022, at his home in Arrecife, as he does not believe the version offered by both this Wednesday before the Las Palmas Court.

In the third session of the trial being held with a Jury against Rubén H.M. and Suffian D., both have denied the crimes charged by the Prosecutor's Office: the homicide of Juan V.G., the breaking of the door of his home, and threats to his brother Benjamín, with whom the victim lived.

After the interrogation of both, who have been friends since childhood, according to what they told the Jury, the lawyer for Rubén H.M. has maintained the request for five years in prison for his client for reckless homicide, and the lawyer for Suffian D., his acquittal, after referring to the Jury that his client "is innocent and is in prison" because he has been "unfairly accused by the victim's brother."

Rubén H.M., who did not want to answer any questions related to Suffian D., has assured that he had no intention of killing Juan V.G., with whom he admitted that he had a "strong argument" that day because he had sold him cocaine in poor condition and went to his house to have him return the money or give him drugs in good condition.

"They had no intention of killing him," he didn't even know he had died when he left the house, the defendant stressed, who said that he was not carrying any knife in his hand, as the witnesses maintain, and that he kicked the door of the house and it opened.

In addition, he has denied that he threatened Benjamín V.G, the brother who lived with the deceased, but, on the contrary, it was he who brandished an axe against him.

Rubén H.M. has also assured that he "was in bad shape," as he had spent "all day snorting."

According to the version he has offered, upon entering the house he found Juan V.G. "very agitated" and with a knife of "large dimensions" and they had a "strong argument" and "what happened, happened."

Juan V.G. was the one who threatened him and to defend himself he grabbed a knife that was on the living room table, which "entered a little" into the victim's body, but he took it out when he saw him swaying, because he "had no intention of killing him," he stressed.

Likewise, he indicated that it was then that his brother Benjamín appeared, who intimidated him with a Viking axe and went out after him, so he ran and left in the blue car, with which he had arrived and which belonged to his mother, although he said he did not remember if he took the knife that he had taken from the victim.

The defendant Suffian D. has stated that he did not know the victim or his brother, nor did he go to their house nor was he carrying any knife, so he does not know why the witnesses place him at the scene of the events: "It is assumed that those of us who are lying are us."

The explanation he has offered is that the witnesses spoke among themselves and agreed to tell the same story.

He did not run away from the house nor was he carrying any knife, he was waiting for Rubén in his mother's car, sitting in the passenger seat, and when he got out to smoke a cigarette he saw Benajmín with an axe running after his friend, so he got into the car.

Before the defendants' statement, the experts have ratified their expert reports, including that of the black-handled, smooth-bladed knife that was found in the car in which the two defendants fled and with which Rubén H.M. attacked Juan V.G., according to the prosecutor.

Regarding the knife, they have said that only DNA from Rubén H.M. was found, so his lawyer maintains that the weapon with which the victim was attacked has not been located.
