The new court of Arrecife (Lanzarote), the Court of First Instance number 6, will begin operating on Thursday, January 2, with the incorporation of nine professionals after the Government of the Canary Islands concluded its conditioning this Monday.

As highlighted by the Regional Ministry of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security in a statement, this court is the ninth to be launched during this year 2024, "more than in the entire previous legislature", which has meant sizing the staff with 85 new hires of judicial personnel.

The Minister Nieves Lady Barreto, in statements collected in the press release, also assured that the autonomous Executive will continue to insist that the Ministry of Justice allow more courts to be opened, "because the Canary Islands registers the highest rate of litigation in Spain".

The Presidency launched last June the Courts of 1st Instance No. 18 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, of Violence against Women No. 3 of the same judicial district, of 1st Instance No. 11 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, of 1st Instance No. 8 of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and of 1st Instance and Instruction No. 8 of Puerto del Rosario.

In addition, in September the Court of 1st Instance No. 6 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the Court of Instruction No. 4 of the same judicial district and the Court of 1st Instance and Instruction No. 5 of Granadilla de Abona were opened, which should have started operating in June 2023, the note highlights.
