The Lanzarote businessman 'Mon', sentenced to one year in prison for a crime against the Treasury

The Prosecutor's Office goes from asking for three years in prison to one after reaching an agreement with Ramón Tejera but maintains the request for civil liability for the value of the defrauded money

The businessman from Lanzarote Ángel Ramón Tejera, alias 'Mon', has reached an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office for the crime against the Public Treasury for which he was tried this Wednesday in Arrecife. For this reason, the contractor has been sentenced to one year in prison, to the payment of a fine of 136,224.3 euros and to compensate the Tax Agency with the payment of civil liability amounting to 162,171.68 euros, the total amount of money defrauded and which has already been paid in full, according to the Public Prosecutor.

In a trial that lasted less than five minutes, the Public Prosecutor's Office reported the modification of its indictment. Initially, it requested three years in prison for the Lanzarote native, a fine of 488,015.04 euros (three times the hidden and unpaid amount) and the loss of the right to obtain subsidies or public aid, as well as the right to enjoy tax or social security benefits or incentives for four years. At the same time, the special disqualification for the right to passive suffrage during the term of the sentence and the payment of the costs of the trial.

Likewise, Ángel Ramón Tejera undertakes to pay the court costs. Thus, it is confirmed that, as administrator of the company Angrasurcor SL, 'Mon' evaded part of the payments to the Treasury that corresponded to the company in the 2016 Corporation Tax, omitting some of the income it had received and deducting expenses that could not be considered as such.

The Penal Court number 1 of the capital of Lanzarote has accepted the modification of the accusation of the Public Prosecutor's Office. Likewise, it has announced that the sentence that will be issued condemning Ángel Ramón Tejera will be final after the Prosecutor's Office and the businessman's defense argued that they were in agreement with the agreement.
