The Las Palmas Court will try next week an Italian man, 41 years old, who set fire to the house where his former partner and their son lived in Argana, while they were sleeping, after spraying it with gasoline from a five-liter container in 2014.

According to the prosecution's indictment, the defendant, V.P., who had already been convicted of a crime of violence in the family sphere, faces a sentence of 20 years in prison for these events, which occurred in the early morning of November 2.

The mother and son were trapped in the house and managed to save their lives because she woke up and the neighbors helped them out of the house through the roof, the only way out.

The Prosecutor's Office considers that in the two crimes it appreciates, arson endangering the life and integrity of individuals and injuries, the mixed circumstance of kinship occurs as an aggravating factor.

The Public Prosecutor's Office requests that the defendant be prohibited from approaching and communicating with the two victims for a period of 30 years, as well as the withdrawal of parental authority over his son for the same period of time.
