The Contentious-Administrative Court Number 3 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has set at 9,658,982 euros the amount that the Arrecife City Council will have to pay in respect of interest for the Ginory plot, as made public by the Consistory itself. From the institution they assure that an order dated May 31 has upheld their appeal, reducing by 2.2 million euros the initial figure claimed by the property.

In total, they demanded 11,929,798 euros in interest alone, which is added to the principal amount of 20 million euros. “Winning this legal battle is a triumph for all citizens, it is a very important saving of public money that will allow us to meet the real needs of the city, and not to pay the consequences of the political inefficiency of previous municipal governments”, defended the mayoress, Astrid Pérez.

"The proof that the Arrecife City Council under the mandate of Astrid Pérez has not stopped litigating in the courts the payment of interest for the expropriation of Ginory is that this latest order is in turn a correction of a previous one, dated March 14, 2022, in which only the allegations of the City Council were partially upheld", they point out from the government group.

According to the Consistory, the order indicates that “the Administration's representation is correct regarding the error on the initial date of expropriation interest". Regarding procedural interest, the City Council affirms that the magistrate "rejects the way of calculating them (by the property)", although she had already resolved this in the March order.
