The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Las Palmas is investigating the father of a newborn baby from Tinajo who died after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest last April. This has been confirmed by sources from the armed institute to La Voz

A Court in Arrecife is investigating the minor's father for the alleged commission of a crime of negligent homicide and another against road safety, as reported by Canarias 7.

According to what La Voz has been able to learn, the father has a record for crimes of robbery with violence and force and also police records for gender violence. Approximately one year ago, he even attended a trial, which was opened ex officio due to police action, accused of a gender violence offense against the baby's mother, although the case did not proceed then because his partner did not testify against him.

The 20-day-old baby suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest on April 12. Initially, the minor's parents went to the Tinajo Health Center, but it was closed, so they then went to the Local Police station, where the officers began to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

After ten minutes, an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service arrived at the scene and the paramedics managed to resuscitate the baby, after twenty more minutes of performing cardiac massage. The minor was urgently transferred to the Hospital José Molina Orosa and from there airlifted to the Hospital Materno Infantil of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where he ended up dying a few days later

Upon taking statements from the parents, the investigators began to suspect the parent, who would have changed his version, initially arguing that the baby had suffered a choking incident and then that he had suffered a traffic accident with the child, even though he did not have a driver's license.

According to Canarias 7, the autopsy of the minor determined that the baby died due to a traumatic brain injury.
