The second day of the trial against Raúl Díaz Cachón, confessed author of the crime of homicide, habitual abuse, domestic and gender violence injuries, desecration of a corpse and simulation of a crime after having killed, dismembered and disposed of his wife Romina Celeste during the morning of New Year's Day 2019 in Costa Teguise in the Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas, begins.

Throughout the morning of this Monday, the heads of the Civil Guard Units that intervened in the investigation and arrest of Raúl Díaz have testified, clarifying point by point the differences between the versions of the accused and what was corroborated by the Civil Guard. After them, a couple of friends in common, who were the godparents of their wedding, and relationship witnesses, as well as the forensic doctors who analyzed the evidence, continued to testify until around 2:00 p.m. In addition, the statement of a woman with whom Raúl slept in a brothel days after the homicide was read.

From the report of disappearance to homicide

At 3:47 p.m. on December 31, 2018, Romina Celeste was alive and exchanging voice messages with her mother. After that, everything was uncertain for her family. The statements of the witnesses have served as pieces of a puzzle to know what happened to Romina Celeste on New Year's Eve.

After her mother, who lives in Paraguay, did not hear from her daughter Romina since New Year's Eve, Raúl Díaz offered her the phone number of the godparents of their wedding to ask them. On January 7, they appeared at the home of Raúl and Romina, located on Avenida de las Palmeras in Costa Teguise, to ask about Romina.

After the insistence of the family, on January 8, 2019, Raúl Díaz Cachón reported the disappearance of Romina Celeste to the Civil Guard post in Costa Teguise. In that first version, he says that, after an argument with his wife in which she asks him for money to go to Paraguay to see her son, he left the house for an hour and when he returns she was gone.
