The Ministry of Defense is investigating whether the possible irregularities in the works of the Civil Guard barracks may have also affected the Army in Tenerife.
As reported by the newspaper La Provincia, the Canary Islands Command of the Army is reviewing a contract awarded to the businessman from Lanzarote Ángel Ramón Tejera, known as "Mon." In the awarded works, a company in the name of "Mon" was hired to waterproof the roofs of the main building of Paso Alto, in Tenerife.
The company would have competed against nine other companies to obtain the tender and would have won by offering a price below the amount established by the contest.
The initial amount of the contract amounted to 78,659.31 euros, but the agreement between the company Angrasurcor, managed by Ángel Ramón Tejera, and the Ministry of Defense would have been closed at 60,453.48 euros.
The businessman from Lanzarote "Mon" is one of the main defendants in the Barracks case, an alleged plot that investigates whether high-ranking officials of the Civil Guard would have facilitated minor contracts to the Canary Islander to rehabilitate barracks of the Benemérita around the entire country. The works would have been invoiced without having carried them out or having carried them out halfway.
