Tobías C.K., accused of killing a man after throwing him from a balcony of a bar in the Teguise Playa shopping center in Costa Teguise, has assured that he did it "in self-defense" because he was being attacked by the victim and another man. This has been reported by the newspaper La Provincia. The case is being judged in the Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.
The events allegedly took place in the early hours of last May 28, 2023, when a bar fight ended with the death of a man. During his testimony in court, Tobías stated that that night "he had drunk a lot" and that the victim and another man hit him and threw him to the ground. In his version, he did not throw the victim over the pub railing, after grabbing him by the waist, but rather he fell after losing his balance.
At the same time, Tobías has justified that he abandoned the scene of the events for fear that the other man involved in the fight would continue assaulting him. "I was very afraid of these two people and I could not foresee it," he added.
After falling from a height of 4.3 meters, the victim suffered a polytrauma with severe closed craniocerebral trauma and other injuries that generated an acute subdural hematoma and an encephalic edema. Finally, the hemorrhage spread and he suffered other injuries to the skull. The man ended up dying that same day.
Meanwhile, the forensic doctors of the Instituto de Medicina Legal de Las Palmas assured that the fall had to be violent and high-impact, according to what emerges from the injuries suffered by the deceased, according to the statements collected by the same digital.
For these facts, the Public Prosecutor's Office requests for the accused twelve years in prison for a crime of homicide. In addition, the Public Prosecutor's Office asks him to compensate "jointly and severally" the parents and the romantic partner of the deceased with 120,000 euros.
