Six years in prison for a 'mule' who introduced cocaine in Lanzarote

The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court has sentenced this Monday Kerikson T.G., a man who confessed to having introduced nearly a kilogram of cocaine at the César Manrique Airport on May 7.

Kerikson departed from the Dominican Republic to Madrid and then from the Spanish capital to Lanzarote. According to the testimony of one of the National Police agents who participated in the operation, the man got off the plane, passed the police control and appeared nervous. The agents allowed him to leave the aerodrome and followed him to a house in Arrecife.

Once there, they saw him get out several suitcases and decided to identify themselves. Kerikson appeared nervous and accompanied the agents to the Doctor José Molina Orosa hospital, where they took an X-ray and discovered that he was carrying 99 capsules of cocaine inside him. In total, it amounted to 989.31 grams, with an average richness of 80.83% and reaching a value of 107,015.27 euros in the illicit market.

After his defense reached an agreement with the Public Prosecutor's Office. Kerikson T.G. will be sentenced to six years and one day in prison, with the accessory of disqualification from the right to passive suffrage during the term of the sentence for a crime against public health in the form of substances that cause serious damage to health, as well as a fine for the value of the drug. If he cannot pay the financial penalty, he must face two more months in prison.
